On Motherhood and Heirlooms with Christene Barberich and Her 3-Year old Daughter Raffi

When it comes to Mother’s Day, there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to capturing the many facets of what it’s really like to be a mom. There’s the fun stuff, the not-so-fun stuff—and the total surprises in-between. But what does celebrating that minutiae of #MomLife look like when being a mother figure looks so different for everyone? Sometimes, a heartfelt thank-you is all it takes. And other times, it’s a token of appreciation in the form of comfort food, a night on the town, five minutes of silence, or something that sparkles.

For cofounder and editor Christene Barberich, it’s trusting that everything happens for a reason and finding time to dance along the way. In the video above, Barberich walks us through her motherhood journey as her and her three-year-old daughter Raffi style each other in our favorite Mother’s Day giftables. “The most helpful thing that someone told me once [was]: Whatever you choose will be the right thing. And I really held on to that… Parenting and becoming a mother is such an unknowable world and situation to be in because it’s completely different for everybody,” she explains. (It’s true.)
