Gold Vermeil

Not to be confused with regular gold plating, our vermeil (pronounced ver-may) is a thick layer of 18k solid gold on sterling silver. It lasts longer than regular gold plating and provides the look and feel of gold jewelry at a fraction of the price.

What to Know

Vermeil will naturally tarnish over time, especially when exposed to environmental factors like air pollution, moisture, and items that contain sulfur, however it is easy to restore the shine of gold vermeil jewelry with proper care and maintenance.

How to Store

Store in a safe, dry place—such as an anti-tarnish pouch or case—with the anti-tarnish strip that came with your purchase. This will help to protect your pieces when they are not being worn.

All of our Jewelry Cases have an anti-tarnish microsuede lining for ease of care.

At Mejuri, fine jewelry is more than craftsmanship and style—it’s a commitment to social and environmental responsibility. From responsibly sourced materials to trusted supplier partnerships, every step of our supply chain brings us closer to net zero emissions. Rigorous testing and precise composition mean our pieces surpass the highest industry standards and are made to last. This is jewelry you can feel good about.

How to clean gold vermeil jewelry

Proactive maintenance is key. To keep tarnish from setting in, clean your pieces regularly by wiping them with a soft, dry cloth or using our Jewelry Care Kit.

Please note: Polishing cloths can be abrasive, so apply gentle pressure and don’t over-polish. Do not use steam cleaners or ultrasonic cleaners on vermeil jewelry.

If using our Jewelry Care Kit, make sure you dry your jewelry using a soft cloth before storing it. If your vermeil discolors use the polishing cloth to revive it.
