OUR COMMITMENT TO

SUSTAINABILITY

Our goal: 100% traceability of all our products.

How We Consider Our Impact

“Fine jewelry for my damn self” is our mantra, but in creating the pieces that you love, it is just as important to us that you feel good about where they come from. Our entire production ecosystem—including sourcing, manufacturing, and branding—aims to mitigate our impact on the environment, support and empower our partners, and give back to our communities. We know how our materials are sourced and processed, and the working conditions that they were made in.

TRACEABILITY IS EVERYTHING

To create true sustainability in fine jewelry we need to be able to trace the impact of our pieces from the origin of the materials all the way to their final destination: you.

Traceability and transparency are key to avoiding unintended negative impacts at any stage of the creation process and we are committed to the highest level of sustainability. Given the multiple hand-offs in the fine jewelry supply chain, traceability can be challenging but we’re taking the challenge to continuously establish frameworks and processes to improve the traceability of our materials across our supply chain.  This level of accountability is the future of modern luxury and we are committed to driving this change.

To achieve this, we started with prioritizing suppliers who are certified by the Responsible Jewellery Council. The RJC provides the most comprehensive international framework for compliance and focuses on best practices around health and safety, human rights, fair labor, governance, and environmental protection. We also select diamonds that are compliant with the Kimberley Process, which ensures the diamonds we use do not fuel armed conflict in high-risk countries. While these guidelines are core to our brand, they cannot always affirm full traceability from mine to market.

With that in mind, we are making significant investments to evaluate and develop material traceability frameworks and will continue to work with manufacturers who have the appropriate traceability processes and certifications in place.

FUTURE

Our ultimate goal is 100% traceability of all materials across our supply chain

The Gold Standard

In 2021, we aimed to procure more than 80% of our gold from recycled sources that are certified by SCS or RJC. And we are happy to report that we achieved that goal. Equally as significant is that the remaining 20% is newly mined gold that comes from responsible sources that are certified by RJC.

RECYCLED GOLD

Recycled Gold

Our continued mission is to ensure that 100% of our gold is traceable.

We started our traceability journey with gold because it’s at the heart of almost all of our collections and because sales of our 14k gold products make up the majority of our revenue. This is the area where we can have the greatest impact.

We’re in the recycling game, too. Any returned or defective products are brought to large-scale recyclers to minimize waste in our operations and drive circularity across the gold supply chain.

RECYCLED

Positive for the Planet

Recycling gold lessens our impact on Earth. Not only do we not have to mine new resources, but recycling also lowers the carbon footprint of each piece of jewelry.

GOLD

Our Best-selling Metal

Most of the jewelry we sell is made with 14k gold, the highest-quality material. This holds true for recycled gold as well.

why not 100% recycled gold?

That would be better for everyone, right? Our commitment is to the planet and its people.  Mining remains a necessary livelihood for millions of people worldwide. That’s why we work with suppliers who are positively impacting mining communities by complying with the highest environmental and most humane standards. This applies to all precious metals and stones that come from the earth.

next steps

beyond gold

Tracing each and every material back to the original source is an extensive mission, and we’ll continue to work closely with our partners to make certain that we’re doing it right. We’re committed to putting in the hard work that is required of any truly sustainable brand.

empowering our community

True sustainability also means growing in a way that empowers those around you. We created the Empowerment Fund in 2020 as a means of supporting BIPOC women and nonbinary individuals by giving them access to higher education through scholarships. To date we have contributed over $285,000 to the fund. Learn more about our Empowerment Fund here.
