2024 SUSTAINABILITY REPORT

SUSTAINABILITY REPORT

Our core belief is that luxury and sustainability go hand in hand. In fact, they represent the future of the jewelry industry. Thoughtfully crafted, high-quality jewelry can be more than an accessory; it can serve as a powerful expression of self and a catalyst for positive social and environmental impact.

PRODUCT

Innovation & Traceability

We believe that the highest levels of responsible sourcing involve accountability and transparency—they’re the future of modern luxury. Working with partners who share this vision is essential to driving sustainable, meaningful change across our industry.

SOURCING WITH OUR VALUES

We prioritize suppliers certified by recognized independent standards-setting organizations, focusing on health and safety, human rights, fair labor, governance, and environmental protection.

Our Supplier Code of Conduct and accompanying Guidance. anchor our responsible sourcing practices and form the foundations of our Social and Environmental Accountability (SEA) Program which helps us continually evaluate our suppliers and practices and help ensure accountability.
The jewelry industry is a global story, rich in people, places, and processes. While this complexity can lead to transparency challenges, we see it as an opportunity. Through our work, we aim to shed light on the journey of each piece, so you can feel confident knowing where it came from and how it was made.

SOURCING OUR PRECIOUS MATERIALS

At Mejuri, we see all materials as intrinsically unique and full of potential. We use a combination of newly mined, lab grown, and recycled materials, which allow us to innovate while maintaining our high social, environmental, and product quality standards. Different materials have varied challenges and considerations, which is why we take a balanced approach to sourcing that prioritizes respect for the people within our industry, our customers, and the planet. As part of our commitment to circularity, we prioritize recycled gold—identical in quality and durability to newly mined, and every bit as beautiful. Because doing things the right way helps us create pieces we’re proud to stand behind—and that our community can feel good about, too.

Salmon Gold™

Our commitment to innovative and responsible sourcing continued with the integration of Salmon Gold into our product lineup. A Mejuri piece made from Salmon Gold™ means wearing gold that's driving true environmental restoration impact, unlike anything done before—and that’s something to be really excited about.

Before you ask, no, it’s not made from salmon. Salmon Gold™ is gold that’s fully traceable, works to restore biodiversity, and supports regenerative mining. Last year, in partnership with Regeneration, we secured the first commercial quantity of Salmon Gold™ —a revolutionary partnership that re-mines legacy and abandoned mine sites while restoring fish habitats across Alaska, the Yukon Territory, and British Columbia.

Since Mejuri joined the project, a cumulative total of 33.5 acres of upland habitat and 1,650 linear meters of stream have been restored.

Regeneration’s approach involves using modern, efficient mining practices to extract valuable metals and minerals from mine tailings, waste rock, and water surrounding these sites. This helps clean and restore the environment while providing sustainable minerals that can be used in products. Traditionally, connecting a company’s biodiversity and environmental initiatives with its supply chain doesn’t happen so directly. We’re challenging that norm through our investment in Regeneration and sourcing Salmon Gold™ , enabling us to not only directly repair the environmental impacts of past mining, but also help drive industry transformation forward towards alternatives that benefit ecosystems.

Last year, we sourced 9 kg of Salmon Gold™ and this year, we sourced 10.5 kg of Salmon Gold™— enough to create…

Through our partnership with Regeneration we’ve been able to integrate Salmon Gold™, advancing us towards our goals of being Climate Positive and achieving 100% Traceability by 2030.

Traditionally, a company’s biodiversity and environmental initiatives aren’t directly linked to its supply chain. We’re challenging that norm through our investment in Regeneration and the sourcing of Salmon Gold™—allowing us to repair the environmental impacts of past mining while helping drive industry transformation toward ecosystem-positive alternatives.

Our 2025 Salmon Gold™ collection has expanded to include more styles, allowing us to offer our customers new designs while increasing our restoration efforts. We look forward to sharing stories of these habitat projects as they progress.

Philanthropy

EMPOWERMENT FUND & ADVOCACY

We are committed to leveraging our influence and platform to champion transformative change in our society through our Empowerment Fund, purpose-driven products, corporate giving, and advocacy.

COMMITMENT TO SUPPORTING WOMEN AND UNDERSERVED COMMUNITIES

Our philanthropic goal of contributing $5M USD by 2030 to organizations we care about is one we hold close to our hearts. That’s why we've worked hard to develop the partnerships, methodology, and systems to keep us on track toward reaching our target.

Our philanthropy revolves around three focus areas: the Mejuri Empowerment Fund, purpose-driven products, and our corporate giving. We recognize that contributing to the greater good goes beyond monetary support. That’s why we are committed to leveraging our influence and platform to champion transformative change in our society—this means meaningfully engaging with our partners and communities, learning how we can best collaborate, support, and use our platform to educate for change.

MEJURI EMPOWERMENT FUND

The Empowerment Fund is the living embodiment of our commitment to supporting women and underrepresented people in our communities.
Through collaborations, partnerships, donations, scholarships, and bursaries, the Empowerment Fund exists to help talented individuals access critical education, upskilling, and advocacy to create lasting change in their lives, communities, and our industry.

Since its start in 2020, the Empowerment Fund has contributed over $1M USD through bursaries, scholarships, and advocacy donations. We’re prioritizing programs, partners, and initiatives that create and expand formal and informal educational and skill-building opportunities that remove barriers to advancement, helping individuals lead on their terms.

This year, we continued to support a range of organizations, including Indspire, Design Thinking Africa, United Negro College Fund (UNCF) and WIE Suite.

DESIGN THINKING AFRICA

Our partnership with Design Thinking Africa, founded in 2023 by Zambian-born Danish jewelry designer Patricia Mweene, helps women in Ndola gain gemstone cutting and polishing skills. This ensures that the value-added process of finishing Zambian gemstones stays within the local community, reducing reliance on outsourcing to other countries and creating sustainable job opportunities for women.

It’s been a big year for the program. With Mejuri’s support, Design Thinking Africa welcomed a new cohort of ten women to its training program, which has now moved to the Technical & Vocational Teacher College (TVTC) in Luanshya, Zambia. This relocation increases security and gives students access to additional disciplines, including on-campus goldsmith training. The program is seeking accreditation as part of a broader EU and ILO initiative to strengthen local vocational training and offer nationally recognized qualifications, empower women artisans, and help build Zambia’s jewelry and gemstone industry by keeping value-added skills in the country.

And the impact of last year’s program continues to be felt with two students from the 2023 cohort, Esnart and Beauty, staying on as teachers and mentors for the new cohort.

“What we are doing has never been done before. The impact of Mejuri’s Empowerment Fund’s continued support is going beyond the wildest imagination of the goals that we originally set.”

— Patricia Mweene

10 Zambian Women received polishing scholarships through our partnership with Design Thinking Africa.

The long-term goal of our partnership with Design Think Africa is to upskill women in Zambia so they can promote local economic development by directly supplying Zambian mined and polished stones to jewelers.

Supporting the Next Gen Through the Design Excellence Award

We were proud to introduce the Design Excellence Award in 2024 as an expansion of our commitment to empowering the next generation of talent. We’re partnering with art schools in Canada, the US, and the UK to provide scholarships and bursaries to individuals studying jewelry design and craft. This year, we distributed a total of $70,000 to seven schools, including California College of the Arts, Central Saint Martins, George Brown College, Rhode Island School of Design, Savannah College of Art and Design, Ontario College of Art and Design University, and Vancouver Community College.

People

Community Inclusion & Social Impact

We strive to create an authentic, connected community where every member shapes our culture while growing personally and professionally.

Employee Engagement and Feedback

By actively listening and engaging with our team through regular employee surveys, we’ve gained valuable insights to better support our staff and address their needs. This feedback has highlighted our strengths and areas for improvement, resulting in programs that maintain a strong engagement score of 76, demonstrating the effectiveness of our initiatives.

Going forward, we will incorporate survey response data into quarterly talent reviews to help leaders better understand how team performance, engagement, and growth relate to productivity and business success.

Of those who took the survey, 81% of employees report that they feel Mejuri is an inclusive environment.

CULTIVATING A CULTURE OF INCLUSIVITY & BELONGING

For every team member to feel genuinely engaged in shaping our culture, it’s important they’re in an inclusive environment where they feel heard.

With feedback from our team, we’ve been working hard to improve employee engagement and growth, strengthen our DEIB policy, and continue promoting gender equity practices. It’s important to us that we’re providing our employees with the resources and support to empower their personal and professional journeys.

Diversity Of Our Team

At Mejuri, we believe building a team of diverse voices and perspectives that reflect the communities in which we operate isn’t just the right thing to do, it’s essential for creating the lasting impact we’re striving for.

Our commitment to cultivating a diverse team and talent pipeline means working to implement the best measurement systems to collect the right data. These graphs offer a snapshot of employee gender and ethnicity based on self-reported data.

ENSURING A DIVERSE TALENT PIPELINE

This year, we prioritized increasing and maintaining the diversity of our pipeline throughout the hiring journey, from application to final hire, with an emphasis on reaching underrepresented groups.

In addition to setting benchmarks, we’re implementing the policies and guidance needed to support this goal, including reducing the potential for implicit bias, clearly communicating performance standards, and identifying additional support required for equity-seeking groups.

ENSURING A DIVERSE TALENT PIPELINE

We’re excited to share that we finalized our Supplier DEIB program in January and are collecting data on progress from our suppliers.

In the three months this program has been in effect, 28% reported having their own internal DEI programs, and 5% qualify as diverse suppliers.

ENGAGING OUR TEAM FOR GOOD

We’re a global company with a community-first approach.

We aim for our stores, offices, and fulfillment centers to actively engage with and positively impact their local communities by hosting engaging in-store events and offering meaningful volunteering opportunities for our team.

Team members from corporate offices, fulfillment centers, and retail locations in New York and Toronto came together during the week to assemble educational resource kits, including chemistry and STEAM kits, as well as handmade bookmarks.

These supplies were donated to local nonprofits, The Toronto Foundation for Student Success (TFSS) in Toronto, Canada, and The Girls and Boys Club of Harlem in New York City, USA, to support inclusive and accessible learning for 315 children in our communities. In total, our team dedicated 92 hours to volunteer projects this year, demonstrating our ongoing commitment to giving back.

PAY EQUITY & BENEFITS

As a women-led organization, with over 78% of our team identifying as women, we witness the power of women every day. Unfortunately, women continue to face barriers and systemic challenges with gender and pay equity in our industry and beyond.

In 2024, the People Operations team conducted a thorough assessment of pay equity across the company, analyzing compensation data to check for unexplained gender pay gaps. After controlling for legitimate factors, they found no average pay disparity between men and women doing comparable work. We’re proud to honor our commitment to equal pay for equal work. We'll maintain this standard through annual reviews, ensuring that pay equity remains a top priority at Mejuri.

CLIMATE & NATURE STRATEGIES

We aim to make a climate-positive impact through every stage of our process, from materials sourcing to our business operations. We continue to partner with Regeneration on legacy mine site rehabilitation and habitat restoration. We've also continued sourcing net-zero precious materials to broaden our product offering.

We’ve been tracking our emissions since 2019, working hard to compile and understand which practices and areas of our business are most greenhouse gas-intensive as we continue to grow. In 2024, we’ve turned that information into a clear roadmap to achieve our climate targets.

We’re tremendously proud to be Regeneration's founding and exclusive jewelry sector partner. This meaningful collaboration allows us to invest in regenerative practices and help address long-standing environmental and industry challenges.

In 2024, Regeneration completed 15.5 acres of terrestrial restoration and 500 linear meters of stream restoration

The Challenge:
Before environmental closure laws existed, many mines were abandoned, leaving behind untreated sites that continue to pollute ecosystems and threaten native species. While these sites have caused lasting ecological harm, they also present a unique opportunity: the mining waste left behind can be transformed into a valuable resource.

Our Partnership:
We’ve partnered with Regeneration, a re-mining initiative led by the non-profit RESOLVE, to help rehabilitate abandoned mine sites and restore surrounding ecosystems. Using innovative techniques, Regeneration extracts valuable minerals from mine waste, cleaning up environmental damage while providing responsibly sourced materials. Revenue from these minerals is reinvested into habitat restoration and permanent mine closure.

In 2023, we committed $1.5 million to support Regeneration’s work and began using traceable Salmon Gold™ from these projects in our jewelry. Our partnership supports the restoration of salmon habitats in Alaska and the Yukon, with British Columbia next—regions critical to the health of both wildlife and local communities. Salmon Gold™ is 100% traceable and uniquely impactful, representing a new model where environmental repair and responsible sourcing go hand in hand.

"Without Mejuri, Regeneration and the Salmon Gold™ program, we wouldn't be able to accomplish the restoration projects that we take on. We are a proud member of this project delivering a greener way of mining gold."

— Dean Race (Uhler Creek, Alaska)

This gold stands out because it’s 100% traceable and plays a crucial role in restoring habitats that both people and wildlife depend on.

BUILDING OUR GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSIONS REDUCTIONS ROADMAP

Understanding our greenhouse gas emissions was the first step. With our climate target set, the next step was creating a robust plan to reach it. To set ourselves up for success, we focused on establishing clear internal reduction targets.

Mejuri is committed to:

  • Reducing our absolute emissions in Scope 1 & 2 by 66.5%

  • Reducing our emissions intensity in Scope 3 by 52%

The result is our near-term, science-based emissions reduction target and roadmap, validated by the Science Based Targets Initiative in February 2025 and published on the SBTi Target Dashboard. We’re proud of the swift progress we’ve made and look forward to sharing further updates as we continue advancing on our roadmap.

REDUCING OUR EMISSIONS

We continue to take action to reduce our GHG emissions and be transparent about our progress. We’re committed to reductions across our operations and value chain by prioritizing low-carbon materials, advancing our greenhouse gas reduction roadmap, and supporting supplier use of renewable energy. After minimizing emissions wherever possible, we address the remainder through Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) and high-quality offsets.

While RECs don’t power our operations directly, they help fund renewable energy where it's most needed. For emissions beyond electricity, we use carefully selected offsets, partnering with Native, a Public Benefit Corporation, to support impactful projects such as regenerative farming in Brazil and clean water access in Mozambique—ensuring our approach aligns with both our climate goals and core values.

As Mejuri continues to grow and expand our store count, our Scope 1 & 2 emissions have increased. However, we’re proud to see a continued decline in our GHG emissions intensity.

We track our emissions across Scope 1 (Direct), Scope 2 (Indirect), and Scope 3 (Other Indirect) to better understand our environmental impact and inform our decisions. Our commitment to transparency means we’ll continue sharing our total carbon footprint with our stakeholders. The next step on our roadmap focuses on collaborating with suppliers to reduce Scope 3 emissions, where we’ve identified the greatest opportunity for meaningful impact.

DEVELOPING OUR NATURE & BIODIVERSITY ROADMAP

As a global business sourcing materials from nature, protecting biodiversity is vital to Mejuri’s future. Beyond necessity, it reflects our deep respect for the ecosystems that sustain us all.

As with all of our goals, our biodiversity and nature roadmaps began by identifying our largest areas of influence and, through the UN Global Compact Network Canada Biodiversity Working Group, built foundational knowledge to create our first nature roadmap aligned with our 2030 goals. We completed biodiversity, water, and human rights assessments to map our most significant impacts and identify key activities and regions for action. Next, we plan to set nature-related targets using the Science Based Targets Network (SBTN) or the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) framework, or both, to guide our future efforts.

CERTIFICATIONS AND PARTNERSHIPS

Prioritizing certifications and international standards remains key in helping us gauge our progress effectively, while upholding the highest standards. Sustainability and Social Impact isn’t a solo sport, and we don’t want to go it alone.

Prioritizing certifications and international standards helps us measure progress meaningfully—and reminds us that sustainability and social impact aren't a solo effort, but a team sport.

We’ve continued our close collaboration with Positive Luxury, both receiving our Butterfly Mark Certification and being shortlisted for their Jewellery & Watches Business of the Year award for 2025 (which we were super excited about).

We also continue to be proud members of the Watch & Jewellery Initiative 2030, which collaborates on collective industry-wide efforts toward a resilient future.

We also continue our commitment to sustainable development as signatories to the UN Global Compact and UN Women’s Empowerment Principles

Meanwhile, our emissions reduction targets and roadmap were validated by the International Science Based Target Initiative (SBTi) in February 2025. Joining this network ensures we are on the right path to achieve our 2030 science-based climate commitments.
